Has anyone completed or at least viewed any SkillSoft courses? A lot of folks have and very positive feedback was received! During the pilot program phase, 486 employees established SkillSoft accounts and over 1,400 resources were accessed.
Those who haven't tried it responded in a survey that they didn't know about it and therefore, didn't have the opportunity to take advantage of the great learning opportunities SkillSoft provides in their Safety & Health, Computer, Supervisory, and Compliance modules, along with the IT Certifications they offer.
You don't have this excuse! We've informed you and encourage you to try it out.
This program continues to be offered through Jan. 30, 2009 and is still considered to be in a review period, pending employees' interest and usage. It's highly affordable costing $53,900, about $7 per employee.
Try it out and let us know what you think. We welcome posts to our blog!

SkillSoft's trial and future
The trial period for SkillSoft has ended, and on January 7, 2008, Anne Sakumoto (Director of UA Training & Development) will make a recommendation to go forward with the SkillSoft program without the Books 24/7 module. She's recommending UA continue with the software for a full year so employeess may continue trying it out and see how they feel about this program. When we hear more about whether it was approved and implemented, we'll post it here, including the link (if it changes).
There are a lot of courses available through this program. Look through it, there might be one for you! Make sure, if you do take a course, to send feedback. They're always looking for comments!

SkillSoft
Even though the survey that was available for commenting on SkillSoft ended on Friday (the 16th), you can still complete course evaluations for courses you take through the program. Everyone is highly encouraged to try some of the courses and send evaluations, so the administrators can see if we're using SkillSoft and what we think of it. They'll be determining if it's beneficial to keep it or look for other alternatives.
SkillSoft has a lot of different courses to try, including business, desktop applications, and IT. There is also a section for Environmental safety and health. There's also a course called Books 24/7, but you have to be logged in to look at it. There are some course catalogs available on the main site, but there's much more information available once you login (with your eDir/MyUA login credentials).
This is a pilot program, and ends on November 30, so please try something and make sure you send feedback, in the form of a course evaluation!

SkillSoft
We only have through Nov. 30 to test the pilot program of SkillSoft! Many courses and on-line books available! Please submit an on-line evaluation form, even if you don't complete an entire course. Positive and insightful feedback is important if we want to have this continuing education available to us after this trial period.
